Prince George County native and executive director of The John Randolph Foundation, Kevin Foster, had the honor of presenting Beazley Elementary with the Presidential Cup on Monday, December 16, 2024. The trophy recognizes the local school with the most students participating in the event. This year, Beazley Elementary had 64 students take to the pavement in the annual running event in nearby Hopewell.

Beazley's physical education teacher, Mr. Rick Toney, and Ms. Meghan Dorgan, the school's Fit4Kids coordinator, encouraged students to participate in the event. Fit4Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving children's health and wellness in the Richmond region. They do this by offering innovative programs that promote physical activity and healthy eating in schools, community organizations, and beyond. Locally, a grant through The John Randolph Foundation allowed Beazley Elementary to offer Fit4Kids at their school.

To prepare for the event, Beazley third through fifth-grade students participate in a running club leading to race day. Along with Mr. Toney and Ms. Dorgan, Ms. Sarah Moreno, Ms. Vanessa Malcomb, Ms. Roquessa Capuyan, and Ms. Haley Parkin also work with students through the running club.

In addition to the Presidential Cup, two students, Gavin Harr (1st Place) and Jacob Harr (3rd Place), were recognized for their performance in the City Point 5K and Kids Fun Run earlier this month during the Prince George County School Board's fall recognition event.

Congrats to Beazley!
